Gained Skills in Cloth Making, Now Leading The Production Team at The Women & Youth Economic Program

Meet Ruth, a widow and a single mother who is a direct beneficiary of the Women & Youth Economic Empowerment program (W&Y). Before she joined Daraja 360 three years ago, Ruth was a depressed woman after losing her husband who was the sole provider at that time. So, she tried several menial jobs that couldn’t sustain her & her daughter. She was struggling to pay rent and meet her basic needs and soon she started drowning in debts.

Her resilience in life led her to Daraja 360 where she was enrolled in the W&Y program to learn fashion & design, entrepreneurship coupled with essential life skills. She has been trained on garment making, pattern making, sewing, stock control, quality control and marketing. These skills have win her the position of an production manager and trainer in the Women & Youth Economic Empowerment program.
