A remarkable young woman who has overcome immense challenges to pursue her passion for education. Growing up as the eldest daughter of a single mother who worked at a small food kiosk, Mitchell knew that her family’s limited financial resources meant that affording her and her sisters’ education would be a struggle.
But Mitchelle refused to let her circumstances hold her back. Fuelled by her unwavering love for learning, she worked hard and poured her heart into her studies, ignoring the challenges that lay ahead. All her hard work paid off when she sat for her KCPE exams and achieved an impressive 371 marks, earning her a coveted spot at Ngara Girls High School.
However, despite the exciting prospect of attending high school, Mitchell’s financial situation still loomed large. Her mother simply couldn’t afford to pay for her tuition, leaving Mitchelle in a difficult spot. But she didn’t lose hope. Thanks to her mother’s persistence and determination, local Minister of Parliament Mr. Arama heard about her plight and graciously pledged to donate 20,000/= towards her education.
Daraja 360 is working to make education more accessible to girls who may not have had the opportunity to attend school otherwise. Mitchell received helped to join Ngara Girls High School to pursue her academic goals and achieve success in their chosen field!
