Daraja 360, a community-based organization that supports women, youth, and children from vulnerable backgrounds, recently attended a counseling training hosted by Weza Care, a non-profit organization that provides innovative solutions to care for and protect vulnerable children.
The training, which consisted of two modules, was attended by Daraja 360 management staff, as well as representatives from Jimmia Women Rescue Centre and Realz Hands of Love.
Counseling is an important skill for Daraja 360 because the organization works directly with vulnerable women, children, and youth. This particular group is often more vulnerable to mental health challenges due to a variety of factors, including poverty, discrimination, and trauma.
By providing counseling services, Daraja 360 can help to improve the mental health of its clients, help them to cope with challenges, and build a better future for themselves.
The counseling training provided by Weza Care covered a wide range of topics, including:
Introduction to counseling
Basics of interpersonal communication in counseling
Person-centered counseling
Values/Attitudes & Labels
How to connect feelings, thoughts & behaviors
Exploring self-care as a counselor
How to build a rapport/trust with clients
How to assess client needs
How to develop and implement treatment plans
How to evaluate the effectiveness of counseling
The training also included practical exercises and role-playing activities to help participants develop the team counseling skills.
Daraja 360 is grateful to Weza Care for providing this valuable training. The organization is committed to providing its clients with the best possible support, and the counseling training will help staff to do just that.
