Family Hoping to Triumph Over Financial Hardships, Illness, and Education Challenges

Meet Eli Mbuguah, a form one student at Tarakwet secondary school in Njoro Sub County. At a young age, he already carries a heavy burden on his shoulders, dealing with a medical condition called Cryptorchidism, which requires urgent surgical attention. However, his family’s financial struggles have prevented him from receiving the much-needed medical help.

But Eli’s troubles don’t end there. He lives with his great-grandmother and grandmother, who are struggling to provide for his educational and medical needs. As a result, Eli has resorted to desperate measures to survive, such as selling firewood from the Timesales Forest next to his school to local villagers. Missing out on school and lacking basic necessities like food and clothing, Eli’s mental health has taken a toll, causing him to slip into a depressive state.

But hope is not lost for Eli, as Daraja 360 has come to his aid. Upon hearing about his situation, Daraja 360 has offered Eli a scholarship to help him continue his education. Additionally, Daraja 360 has arranged for Eli to receive medical attention for his condition, ensuring that he can live a healthy life. A medical checkup has been scheduled to assess his condition and determine the best course of action to help him.

Eli’s story is a testament to the power of community support. While his attempts to involve the village elders were fruitless, Daraja 360’s intervention has given him hope for a better future. With access to education, medical care, and psychological support, Eli can thrive and reach his full potential.
