From Nakuru 3:16

Nakuru 3:16 was founded to address the “cycle of poverty” by reaching out to young women and mothers living on the streets of Nakuru, offering them a new start and ensuring their children would have the opportunity to reach their full potential.

As the mothers and children have grown and matured, so has Nakuru 3:16. We’ve learned that it’s not enough to provide primary education to children, especially those without strong parental or community support – they need mentoring and inspiration to chart successful life courses.

We’ve also learned that it’s not enough to shelter and provide training to women from the streets – the path to self-sustainability is long and complex especially in the reintegration phase and this we have found out to be a challenge for most rehabilitation centers, rescue centers, and children’s homes.

Most young adults from the normal family setups and more so from these centers are faced with frightening life transitions when they leave their homes & centers to enter into life after school or training because of the scarcity of job opportunities and lack of adequate capacity to start and run their own businesses.

Some despair and they fall through the cracks and make poor decisions and sometimes deadly choices back to the cycle of poverty which we are trying to break.
